Heading back to Nagoya

Checking out of the hotel and off to Nachi Falls

Train from Atawa to Shingu was simple as usual, grabbed breakfast at the Lawson across the street.

Finally had my first Japan Konbini egg sandwich. It’s OK? Maybe the 7/11 ones are better, but give me hot chicken or 🍙 onigiri 🍙 any day!

Shingu to Kii-Katsuura, once I managed to get the right ticket (yes, you need to reserve tickets, even if the system will happily let you buy otherwise.)

Bus up to Nachi falls and the Kumano-Nachi Taisha, 1200¥ return.

SO MANY STAIRS. Down to the falls. Back up from the falls. Up to the shrine. I wouldn’t mind but I have my (even more over) full pack on today and … ouch. Me and obaachan racing up some stairs and she’s nearly winning. Lovely to see the complex and buy all the three leg crow merchandise because I’m at the point in the trip. 😂

The falls were pretty amazing to see, it’s understandable that it became a site of worship by the Kumano cult and further back into pre-historic times.

Back down to the town to wait for the train, turns out it’s not much slower to go west around through Wakayama to Osaka and then catch the Shinkansen to Nagoya… so who’s going to pass up that? Not me!

PANDA TRAIN!

Achievement unlocked: fell asleep on a Japanese train

Relatively uneventful, hung out in the Osaka train station for a bit, amazed at the options available to travellers for food, then hopped on the train and made my way to my hotel in Nagoya for the evening.
