Berlin Day 2

quiet day today, I’m tired and RMB is feeling sick as a dog - even worse after yesterday’s epic foot journey

wandered down to checkpoint charlie to find a piece of the wall for mrK and do some currency exchange

grabbed the underground to Schloss Charlottenburg

10:06 AM U Kochstraße/Checkpoint Charlie 10:09 AM SubwayU6U Alt-Mariendorf (Berlin) 3 min (2 stops) 10:13 AM U Mehringdamm SubwayU7S+U Rathaus Spandau (Berlin) 18 min (13 stops) 10:31 AM

nice walk on a warm day to the palace

saw a sign about sheep, didn’t see any sheep. I feel a little ripped off :'(

walked through the palace, realised that I’d probably be religious if every time I looked up to pray there were tits on the roof.

walked around the back, the gardens are nice, but much nicer if you could get up high

lunched at Restaurant Samowar (TripAdvisor), exquisite menu and lovely waiter.

had mushroom soup for starter

main was wild boar wurst. lovely and rich and the sauerkraut was great. RMB had the calf’s liver, it was the usual strong, rich taste of the usual thing

had honey cake, nom.

caught the bus to the Berlin Zoologischer Garten, then the train to Bahnof Warschauer Straße.

such amazing and powerful artworks

we got our passports stamped for fun and i bought a pin/patch

walked along the wall taking photos, RMB added our names to a spot

started to rain not long after, we toddled back to berlin ostbahnhof and then train back to our starting point

grabbed dinner at Ristorante Lungomare after an abortive attempt at getting something from the hotel restaurant - more a shitty bar than something starting with r.

entee was vitello tonato - veal with tuna-flavoured sauce. curious and fun to try

I had a delicious lasagne, different to what we normally get - no crusty cheese top - more a load of tomato cheesy delicious creamy sauce and a seriously thick meat sauce.

robyn had the gorgonzola & walnuts and tasty on tagliatelle
