Riga to Gdansk, the Wolf's lair and a dog

long day today - out the door around 0630

Along the way, I noticed a dog in a window. That sounds pretty normal, except it was a Husky hanging out a second floor window, just watching the world go by… :)

drove to the wolf’s lair, in Poland

wolf’s lair - wolf sculpture at entrance

truly incredible fortifications, was great to be able to walk around and inside some - they were HUGE!

finally got to aparthotel neptun, though there was some pain (and a conversation with some grumpy police) getting to our hotel - the old town is very locked down and illegal to drive in without a valid reason (including hotel bookings, it seems).

dinner at LatajÄ…cy Holender, home of the ambivalent staff and interesting food.

entree was the thinnest ghoulash I’ve ever eaten - tasty, if watery. RMB had ‘Fried Tiger Prawns’ which never saw the hot part of the pan. the sauce was nice, but the whole thing was just … overdone.

main for RMB was salmon. a little dry, but OK.

I had the dumplings with meat (huge, fried, lovely filling, with loads of smoked bacon chunks over the top) and the “Desk of Polish sausage” which was a tasty selection of sausages.
