national museum of iceland

amazing

so many historical thingies

there was a germanic habit of personally owned churches

swords

things?

nice embroidery

hallgrimskirkja - what a modern art masterpiece

very very very scarily plain inside

like more than scandinavian stark

Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur for a hot dog. wasn’t the most amazing experience of my life, but the dog was tasty, the bun was fresh and soft, the fixin’s were delicious. it was hilariously cold and windy and bordered a construction site

icelandic phallological museum - so. many. dicks. I think I’m shorter than an orca penis.

Brauð & Co for a blueberry and liquorice scroll. amazing and delicious and only a slight nose-taste of the liquorice

did some shopping

saw the harware store, was really neat and old-school

perlan - it was closed - nice view

dinner at Geysir Bistro

RMB had whale “sashimi” - was cooked but delicious - like tiny sticks of meat ( Whale sashimi with smoked mayo, pickled ginger and wasabi) I had Deep fried Camembert with dried parma ham and red currant jelly

I had the Geysir deluxe dry-aged beef burger with rucola, prosciutto, camembert cheese, mushrooms and garlic sauce which was tall food but tasty and nicely cooked.

RMB had the Wiener schnitzel with pepper sauce, mushrooms, onion, bacon and pan fried potatoes.

We had brennivin with the meal, a nice smooth one. Didn’t work out the brand, sadly. RMB said it was much nicer - we worked out not having a lung/mouthful of ammonia from hakarl helps with the flavour

today’s driving map

We did a lot of wandering around looking at shops and things, but it was all around these places. Puffin shops aplenty.
