On Cat Person

There’s been a lot of hullabuloo on the internet about the short story by Kristen Roupenian, Cat Person.

This is a very well written short story, so quoting much of it would be a terrible spoiler, here’s the intro.

Margot met Robert on a Wednesday night toward the end of her fall semester. She was working behind the concession stand at the artsy movie theatre downtown when he came in and bought a large popcorn and a box of Red Vines. “That’s an . . . unusual choice,” she said. “I don’t think I’ve ever actually sold a box of Red Vines before.”

It’s interesting to read the author’s interview with the New York Times about the piece, seeing her side of it and her feelings that led to the story being written.
