So many shinies! So little time!
Walked through town to the acqueduct - pretty impressive
down back streets alongside Attaturk rd to get back to the spice bazaar
amazing traffic & businesses crammed into every corner.
The Markets on the northwest side of the bazaar were more amazing to me than the Spice Bazaar itself. Tiny streets, crammed to the gills with even tinier shops, selling anything and everything. Light bulbs, food, party supplies, farming equipment and everything in between. I’d definitely suggest a walk down Hasırcılar Cd. if you’re ever in the area!
Did a few laps of the spice market and local stores looking for the coloured glass lamps I loved the look of, but I couldn’t find any I wanted to take home - especially given the difficulty of doing so without damaging them - so I consoled myself with some lovely towels, and a manual water pump for camping which I’d never seen at home before - especially for $3AUD!
We spent a little more time toddling around the city, but given it was raining lightly and we were due to leave tomorrow we ended up going back to the room for some much-needed rest!
Dinner was procured from Gulhane Sark Sofrasi, a place down the hill from our hotel, mainly because of its proximity and the pouring rain. It turned out to be a hilariously tourist-focused place with a terrible english menu and comically bad staff. The food was pretty good, and it was nice to get complimentary tea and baklava to round out our meal.
After dinner we packed, ready to go and I finally got to downloading my photos off my camera. 3107 photos from Monday the 25th until today - unsurprising given that the first day of that count was when I went hot air ballooning!
