On the road again! Left Antalya after onf of the most spectacular breakfasts we’ve had, and that’s saying a lot! Eggplant and peppers and all tgood things.
Shopped for Bananas at a roadside stall, and marvelled at the range of other goodies while wishing we had more time to be able to eat them all :)
Erkan told us about marriage culture today
1500 people, three days 500kg of meat
a tiny wedding would be 300 people, 500-700 is a decent size
“monkey appetite” is a great way of describing someone who sleeps around - nibbling and hopping from tree to tree
The name “Erkan” is one of the nine sky go
of course he bought an Australian Merino wool suit to show off for the wedding :)
The groom’s family pays for the wedding
Visited the Esrefoglu Mosque, the best preserved and most spectacular one there is
Drove on to Konya and saw the Mevlana Museum and the tombs of their leaders
Dinner was at Konya Mutfagi, “the cuisine of Konya”. Okra soup, Tirit (similar to what we think of as Iskender, but not) Dolma with mince instead of rice - how it should be done. Halva for dessert - a block of ice cream with halva over the top, amazing.
After that we pottered through the shops and a lovely public park before heading home for a well-deserved rest.
