Mi Scuzi Day 11 - Returning to Reality

Back to the world today, the end of the journey. Breakfast buffet in the hotel, then dropped the car off and hopped the shuttle to the airport.

chilled in the qantas club for a while, and consumed the mandatory pre-flight boiled eggs :D

other than being about 20 minutes late, the flight was uneventful - the scenery was pretty lacking for most of the way home because of the cloud cover and rain we were flying through, but we saw a pretty spectacular rainbow effect… something to do with the sun being on the other side of us, I guess

Advertising: “We will pick you up from your hotel in Darwin”

First email: “We will pick you up from your hotel in Darwin”

The email five days before the trip: “We will pick you up from select hotels in Darwin city”

… turns out, the list was basically “The Hiltons and some other random one I can’t remember”

So to make our 0715 “departure time, be there half an hour early” from the hotel we woke up at stupid o’clock, walked a few blocks to the Hilton, sat around for ages while the very nice man started a conversation with every boomer in the line, then finally got a slip of paper telling us our cabin number at 0725.

Mi Scusi Day 2 - Darwin City

Friday the 13th, WooOoOoooo.

Slept in a bit - we flew in a day early in case there were flight cancellations - thanks, COVID.

I went out looking for some breakfast, and by 9am it was already ~30º outside. After toddling around for a while, marvelling at the number of massage parlors and bars promoting their Defence-Force discount, I found a lovely bacon, egg and avocado roll at Monica’s Café - a nice family-run establishment directly across the road from the hotel.
