I thought “more like lots of potato with a tiny bit o’ chicken” but they hid the chicken deep under everything else. The sauce is nice enough… gravy-adjacent?

Pretty tasty, looks like a proper ragu. Not overly oily once it’s all mixed in 😄

Last day in Japan You have already bought lots No more shopping, k?
Hahaha kapabashi street.
When I was in Kyoto in 2019, there was a Ramen shop that had these amazing spice grinders that were the thickness of my thumb and about 6 inches long and I have been looking for them ever since because they were made really nicely and just felt great to use … I finally found them today. Asahisunred

2024-11-13 Takayama to Tokyo Another Shinkansen off my list today 😀 there’s to ways to get to Tokyo from Takayama, either south through Nagoya or north through Toyama and back through Nagano… so off to see the Sea of Japan and another part of the country side!
I’m sure you’d get sick of it eventually being in these tiny freezing old dying towns full of old people, but fuck this place is pretty.

Rainy day in Tokyo, what to do?
This hotel has two specialties. Bowls full of poppy balls and Salmon for breakfast, and the main onsen water is black. Like, three inches under the water you can’t see anything, so the first step into it is … a guess
Wet day in Tokyo and I’m moving hotels again.
I’m in danger 😨
It was alright, not actually raining any time I was outside so I never dealt with wet walkways.

It’s called “Nichiren in Exile” on fuji arts but “Swirling Snow (Tomoe no yuki)” on the public sources
Visited Mokuhankan to see their prints and meet Dave
Went to a second location and tried that, but also tapped out. :(
Ikebukoro to check out Animate. Supposedly huge collection of anime BD/DVD and Manga, but it felt like it was 90% merchandise. I guess I’m a boomer for wanting physical media?

Wandered to ITOYA. Ok, Japan, stop heating your buildings so much. I started getting a headache it was so hot. Everyone was sweating. It was horrible. Never going back, I don’t care how good their pen range is, or how nice the displays were, it was also just disgusting.

Speaking of Toto, Japanese shower controls don’t get enough love. They’re great. Many places have bidets too, and Germany/Poland has these similar mixer showers but the usual Japan quality modifier applies.
Weighed my bag today, if anything it’s probably lighter because I’m not carrying an extra couple of KG in water and food 😀 22.25kg not including camera or water bottle, but including probably half a kilo of stickers and other random omiyage I’ve picked up in the last few days.

Walk 350m, turn left at the FamilyMart… ok the THIRD FamilyMart
Dropped bags, wandered through Bic Camera loving the song and marvelling at how easy it is to buy… electronic joy here.
Off to Nagoya Castle, two subway rides and I’m there. It’s nice to walk around the grounds and see some of the history but sadly the tower has been closed for some time (which I didn’t see mentioned anywhere online?) and large chunks are under restoration at the moment. Great that they’re investing in the grounds but, boo.
